Five Police Officers from the National Highways Patrol Unit/HQRS have been interdicted over allegations of extortion by a taxi driver.
This was after a video of the Taxi Driver who said he was assaulted by the police and seen cursing them circulated.

The five were 1. C/INSPR William Tawiah, 2. NO. 40845 G/SGT Ibrahim Iddi, 3. NO. 40921 G/SGT Richard Otoo, 4. NO. 44040 G/SGT Samuel Kumah and 5. NO. 55135 G/CPL Richard Kpeanaah.
In the said video, the Taxi Driver narrated that when the police stopped him, they accused him of throwing Indian Hemp (weed) into the back seat which he denied because he did not have anything of the sort on him.
He said when he denied it, one of the police officers slapped him and, in the end, they took GH¢500 from him.
The Taxi Driver who was pained by the extortion went to a stream with a drink and cursed the police officers in question.
Meanwhile, aside being interdicted, the Police Authorities have also directed that all weapons, uniforms and other police accoutrements in their possession be collected into safe custody while the matter is investigated.

Police report indicates that six suspected armed robbers have been arrested, while five others have been killed.
This was when the police embarked on series of special Anti-Robbery intelligence-led operations throughout the country during the new year.
According to the Police, the five were gunned down during a gun battle with the police.
Meanwhile, the police said similar operations are in progress in the Northern and Western North Regions and will update the public later on the matter.
