warning

A Senior Meteo Officer, Ghana Meteorological Agency, Joshua Asamoah, has stated that the Agency issued an earlier warning prior to Friday’s rains.

According to him, the Agency announced that the country’s middle belt, as well as the eastern and southern regions, will experience heavy rains.

However, he suspected that when the Agency issues warnings, some people also take it, edit it and present or share it on social media platforms as theirs.

He explained to the public that usually, the one on the Agency’s letterhead is what they present to the public.

Unfortunately, due to duplication of their letters, some people disregard the warnings when the Agency issue them out.

He pointed that the felling of trees without replacement and galamsey has all affected the rainfall pattern.

Meanwhile, he made it known that the rains will continue till November, 2023. especially for those in the middle belt down to the southern part.

For those in the North, he said the rains will stop by October.

Joshua Asamoah cautioned the public to distill their drains in order to allow free flow of water when it rains.

For those who build in waterways, he urged them to put a stop to it.

In addition, he advised those who are currently constructing to plant more grass instead of plastering or paving with cement, as the grass will help absorb some rainwater.
