The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has demanded an immediate end to the strike action being embarked upon by some members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
Addressing a press conference in Accra, the President of the student’s union, Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel said students in Ghana are disappointed at the decision of the University students as strikes have never been solutions to ending issues such as galamsey.
He added that the country would have been better off if UTAG instead of striking had proposed workable solutions to the menace. This action, he underlined would help in tackling the problems other than strikes hence the demand for the immediate halting of the action which is sabotaging academic activities.
NUGS further proposed workable solutions to dealing with galamsey which they said is eating the social fabric of society.
These solutions, include educating Ghanaians on best mining practices.
