Ghana to receive 245 deportees from Kuwait – Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says government is putting measures in place to receive some 245 Ghanaians deported from Kuwait.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said Cabinet met on Thursday, 21st May 2020 and took some critical decisions with respect to covid-19 which include receiving these 245 Ghanaians who have been deported from Kuwait.
He noted that this decision was reached after the government of Kuwait informed Ghana of an intention to deport some 245 Ghanaians who are currently living in Kuwait illegally.
He said Kuwait further requested for permission to bring these persons into the Ghanaian jurisdiction.
He added that the permission has been granted and that the deportees will be flown into Ghana on Saturday 23rd May 2020.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, however, added that the deportees will be immediately quarantined and tested as soon as they get into the country.
He said Government is still collating data on Ghanaians stranded abroad.
