The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Engineers Association (GhATSEA) has suspended its planned industrial strike action following successful negotiations with the management and governing board of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The strike, which was set to commence on Thursday, October 30, 2025, was called off after what the association described as “constructive engagement” with key stakeholders.
In a statement signed by Engr. David Annan Mensah, President of GhATSEA, the association expressed appreciation to the GCAA leadership — including Acting Director-General Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur and Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical) Mr. Theophilus Aryee Ago — for their commitment and willingness to resolve outstanding issues.
“We appreciate the efforts made by all stakeholders during the discussions and remain optimistic that the ongoing engagements will lead to a lasting resolution of all outstanding issues,” the statement read.
GhATSEA reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in air navigation services, assuring the public and aviation partners that the suspension of the strike does not affect the association’s core mission of ensuring safety in Ghana’s airspace.
The association also extended gratitude to the media and the general public for their patience and understanding during the period of uncertainty.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the provision of air navigation services across the country,” GhATSEA emphasized.
The suspension of the strike brings relief to the aviation industry, which had been bracing for possible disruptions to air travel and operations across Ghana.
GhATSEA concluded by reiterating its motto: “The Backbone of Air Traffic Safety.”
