The Free SHS Secretariat has denied allegations that government has not released funds to schools for the 2019/2020 academic year, as circulated in the media earlier this week.
According to the Secretariat in a statement, Government has since release funds for first semester 2019/2020 academic year which commenced in September 2019.
It also stated that both single track and double track schools have all been paid.
“Funds for the day to day running of the schools like admission fees, stationeries, teacher motivation, maintenance fee etc have all been sent to the schools. However, payments for centrally procured items are withheld and paid centrally to suppliers by headquarters. The Ministry continues to pay these suppliers as and when SRAs and invoices are received,” the Secretariat stated.
