Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has stated that the Government is set to formalise agreements with mining companies and mining related industries to rehabilitate roads in mining enclaves in the country.
This is despite the major and inner city road projects which are ongoing and are yet to be completed across the country.
Presenting the 2024 Annual Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government of Ghana for the 2024 Financial Year, on Wednesday, 15th November, 2023, the Finance Minister said, “Government will continue to pursue the mining sector roads rehabilitation project to improve the road network in mining communities.”
He continued,”The Government will begin the formalisation of agreements with the mining companies and mining related industries to fund and commence the rehabilitation of roads in the mining enclaves in 2024.”
Meanwhile, Ken Ofori-Atta said the selected communities include Takoradi -Agona Nkwanta, Takoradi dualisation and township, Prestea Bogoso, Bogoso township, Dunkwao Obuasi, Obuasi Township, Ahwiankwantamanso and Konongo.
