Hajj Village Project Not Funded by Taxpayers – Kwakye Ofosu Clarifies

Minister of State for Government Communication, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted claims that taxpayer funds are being used for the construction of the Hajj Village project.

His statement follows public backlash questioning the significance of the project and its source of funding.

Addressing these concerns in a Facebook post, Hon. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that the facility is entirely financed by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and does not rely on public funds.

“The Ghana Airport Company is in the business of developing and managing air travel facilities for profit. The Hajj Village is one such facility. Not a pesewa of tax money is going into the project,” he wrote.

He also accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of contradicting itself, stating, “Here is the NPP claiming only last week to have started the Hajj Village. Today, they say they are angry because the same Hajj Village is being built.”

The Hajj Village serves as a dedicated airport terminal designed to facilitate the check-in and processing of Ghanaian Muslim pilgrims traveling to Mecca.

President John Dramani Mahama officially inaugurated the construction of the new Hajj Village , marking a significant milestone in improving facilities for Ghanaian pilgrims.
