Harriet Nuamah appointed first female Country Director of SEND GHANA

As SEND GHANA marks 26 years of impactful pro-poor policy research and advocacy, the organization has announced the appointment of Ms. Harriet Nuamah Agyemang as its first female Country Director. Her appointment, which took effect on August 1, 2024, is a significant milestone for the organization.

Ms. Nuamah Agyemang’s journey with SEND GHANA began in August 2003, shortly after completing her National Service. Over the years, she has served in various capacities, including Project Officer, Communications Officer, and Senior Programme Officer overseeing SEND’s Southern Ghana Program. Notably, she spearheaded the “Making Ghana’s Budget Work for Equity” initiative, and since 2022, she has led the Epidemic Preparedness Campaign. This campaign advocates for the establishment of a statutory fund by the Ghanaian government to support health emergencies, uniting professional bodies in the health sector, academia, traditional leaders, and civil society organizations.

With 21 years of experience in the civil society sector, Ms. Nuamah Agyemang brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to her new role. As Country Director, she will provide strategic leadership for SEND’s management and operations. Her priorities include enhancing regional collaboration between SEND GHANA, SEND Liberia, and SEND Sierra Leone, fostering partnerships with government and civil society, and ensuring the organization remains relevant in the ever-changing advocacy and livelihood landscape.

Ms. Nuamah Agyemang holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies, and a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

As she steps into this pivotal role, Ms. Nuamah Agyemang is poised to lead SEND GHANA into a new era of impactful advocacy and social enterprise, continuing the organization’s legacy of promoting economic improvement and social justice.
