The government through the Ministry of Information has condemned last Saturday’s attack on UTV.
Some persons believed to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) activists stormed the studios of United Television (UTV) last Saturday to disrupt the station’s popular show ‘United Showbiz,’ which was live on air. The activists embarked on the disgraceful action to express their displeasure with the alleged constant attacks on the government on the said show.
However, in a statement, the Information Ministry said, .“The right to free expression and the freedom of the media are key pillars of our democracy and must be fiercely protected. The Ministry stands with the police and the courts in the conduct of their duties.”
“The Ministry condemns in no uncertain terms any authorized entry into media organizations, in protest at media content, or interference in media work,” the statement added.

The Ministry assured the public that it stands with the police and the courts in the conduct of their duties.
