Palace guards on Thursday night apprehended a young man with a rifle at Nyenkpala Naa’s palace in the Tolon-Kumbungu District of the Northern Region.
The suspect, Lung Dawuda, is thought to be part of a group that wants to get rid of the new chief of the traditional area.
The palace guards managed to disarm him before handing him over to the police for further investigation.
The new chief of Nyenkpala was enskinned by the Dagbon overlord last week, but he has been met with opposition from some locals.
It took the intervention of the military to maintain law and order in Nyenkpala on the day of his enskinment.
