Meaningful Retooling of Security Agencies Happens Only Under NDC — Hon. Toobu

Hon. Toobu

Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of the Defense and Interior Committee, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, has asserted that Ghana’s security services only receive meaningful and consistent retooling when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Atinka AM Drive with host Ekow Budu Sam, Hon. Toobu argued that the NDC has a proven track record of prioritizing the welfare and operational readiness of the country’s security agencies.

According to him, successive NDC administrations have demonstrated greater commitment in providing modern equipment, upgrading infrastructure, and improving logistics for the police, military and other security institutions.

“The only time the country’s security services receive proper and meaningful retooling is when the NDC is in power,” Hon. Toobu stated.

He criticised the New Patriotic Party previous administrations for what he described as neglect of the security services, stressing that inadequate investment in tools, training, and working conditions affects the effectiveness of personnel in maintaining law and order.

He called on the current government to prioritise the retooling of the security services, irrespective of political differences, to ensure that officers are well equipped to respond to emerging security threats.
