MTN poised to support growth of SMEs

Angela Mensah-Poku, the Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN Ghana, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country.

According to her, MTN has supported SMEs in digital transformation, access to financing, skills development, and market expansion over the years, among other things.

Madam Mensah-Poku was speaking in Koforidua at a sensitization program that the Ministry of Finance and the Trade Ministry organized to inform the public about the SME Growth and Opportunity (GO) program, which the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, launched in July 2024.

The program aims to mobilize a total of GH8.2 billion to provide financial and technical support to the sector in a major boost to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The initiative also aimed at strengthening the country’s private sector and propelling the nation toward its annual growth potential of approximately 5 percent.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade and Industry will coordinate the program, and the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ghana EXIM Bank, and Development Bank Ghana (DGB) will carry out its implementation.
