NPP-NDC clash at Mamobi: One person arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person in connection with the disturbances that occurred between supporters of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Mamobi over the weekend.

This was announced by the Ghana Police Service in a statement.

A routine weekend political campaign walk at Mamobi in Accra turned violent on Sunday, October 13, resulting in two people allegedly being shot and four others injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the violence was triggered by a dispute over which group would pass through a particular area first.

The situation escalated when a group of motorbike riders from the NDC side confronted NPP supporters, leading to a verbal altercation that quickly turned physical.

According to the Police, the arrested suspect is helping the police to identify the rest of the perpetrators

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to assure the general public that investigation into the disturbances that occurred between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Mamobi in Accra yesterday, Sunday 13th October 2024, is still ongoing,” the Police stated.

It added that,”So far, one person has been arrested in connection with the incident and the Police are working around the clock to get all identified perpetrators arrested to face justice.”
