NPP parliamentary elections: Henry Opoku Ware picks nomination forms

Businessman and Lawyer, Mr. Henry Opoku Ware has picked nominations form to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primary in the zBekwai Constituency.

Mr. Henry Opoku Ware picked the nomination forms last  Wednesday and was accompanied by some NPP delegates, members, and sympathizers amid drumming and dancing.

Mr. Opoku-Ware popularly known as OWASS is a philanthropist, a practicing lawyer, and has been a member of the NPP since the inception of the party in 1992.

Owass single-handedly acquired a piece of land in early 2023 year and prepared it for market purposes at the Bekwai area which has reduced the loss of human lives among the traders along the edges of the main Bekwai -Obuasi highway.

Owass has pledged his unflinching support for the constituency if he wins the Bekwai seat.

“I have been doing my best to help you already so helping you more won’t be a problem at all,” he told delegates

Mr. Opoku Ware who helped the incumbent, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament to retain the Bekwai seat in the 2020 general elections says, he is the right person for the job as he toured almost every part of the constituency with Joe Wise and so has the first-time information on the constituency when it comes to their problems.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday, December 20, opened nominations for individuals seeking to represent the party in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.

The party has scheduled January 27, 2024, as the date for parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting MPs.

Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Prof. Haruna Mohammed, said all is set for the picking of forms on Wednesday.

The vetting committees being put together will also be announced after the forms have been submitted on December 25.”

“The instruction is that campaigns will start immediately after nominations are opened for people to pick nominations.

Four persons are contesting the Bekwai parliamentary seat namely; Henry Opoku-Ware (OWASS), Ralph Poku Edusei, George Alex Mensah (COP rtd), and Kingsley Opoku Agyemang.
