NPP’s 110 ministers doing more work at lower cost –  Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister of Information -designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has refuted allegations that the President failed to reduce the number of ministers in his government after the reshuffle, still making his government the largest in Ghana’s history.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Thursday made changes to his government.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi constituency and Deputy Minister of Information is now the Minister for Information designate.

Otiko Afisa Djaba, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection is heading to Italy to serve as Ghana’s Ambassador.

MP for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison will replace Otiko Afisa Djaba as the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Prior to the reshuffle, it was rumored that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo will cut down the 110 ministers to an unconfirmed number.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah explained that just a handfull of  ministers receive monthly salaries which saves the government huge sums of monies.

According to him, most of the 110 Ministers are MP’s themselves and so do not take double salaries unlike the previous governments.

“Having a smaller government size does not determine the success of a government. We have seen governments with smaller government sizes taking double salaries. Most of the Ministers in the Akufo Addo government are MP’s and so they do not take salaries as Ministers.
