The Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the Military Police has arrested Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong in connection with the discharge of a firearm at A&C Mall, East Legon, on Friday, December 31, 2021.
The suspect was spotted in a video firing several shots of a firearm suspected to be AK 47 at A&C Mall, East Legon, on Friday night purportedly to welcome the new year.
The Police which noted that it was a crime to discharge a firearm in public without lawful and necessary occasion under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) placed an amount of GH₵ 5,000.00 as a bounty for anyone who could provide information leading to his arrest to face prosecution.
The suspect was later arrested following Police investigation.
According to the Police in a statement, the suspect, Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu is currently detained by the Military Police whilst investigations continue.
“As we continue to make merry for the new year, we want to urge the public to be guided in their celebrations and desist from acts that compromise public safety and order,” the police added.

Officials of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly on Friday, December 31, 2021, demolished about several pubs at East Legon
The incident happened at Otele Avenue. The affected pubs include Briefcase Pub and Salma’s Eatery.
The demolition according to the Awayaso West Municipal Assembly, was triggered by complaints by some residents with regards to noise pollution and other social vices.
Several structures including kiosks operating as pubs, provision shops, and Shisha joints were affected.
