Reconstructed Appiate: “Vote for Bawumia to do more”- Richard Ahiagbah

Mr Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to Ghanaians to vote for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 general elections to enable him to do more for Ghana.

This comes after government officially handed over the reconstructed Appiatse community to the affected residents Thursday, May 2, 2024.

17 persons died while 59 got injured huge explosion at Apiate, a town between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region on 20th January 2022.

Apart from the deaths, the explosion destroyed several domestic and commercial properties.

Some residents of the area who were unhurt had to run for their lives.

The preliminary investigation established that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.

At the inauguration of the reconstructed community on May 2, 2024, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, noted that the sudden explosion shook our foundation, leaving Appiatse and indeed the entire country in deep sorrow and distress.

“I saw at first hand the devastating effect of the explosion on the community, with some of our people, unfortunately losing their lives and others suffering various degrees of injuries as well as the near total collapse of the entire Appiatse community.

“I’m happy we have done it together; we owe it to the victims of the families and our entire nation to prevent such tragedies in the future.”

The recently constructed buildings have improved amenities such as inner roadways, a market, six-unit classroom and kindergarten blocks, water and electricity, a drainage system, and a water storage system. The units range in size from one to seven bedrooms.

In a post on X after the inauguration, Mr Richard Ahiagbah posted “Appiatse reconstruction, just look at it! Akufo-Addo cares. Vote for Bawumia to do even more for Ghana.”
