The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Chancellor Dr. Samuel Amo Tobbin, for his unwavering support during a pivotal moment in the party’s history.
During the Tobinco Group’s Annual Thanksgiving Service held at the Dor Event Annex, the party presented a symbolic portrait to Elder Dr. Tobbin and his wife, Mrs. Araba Sika Tobbin. The gesture was to honor the couple for their role in encouraging and empowering Philip Appiah Akubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, to lead the GFP following the demise of its founder, Madam Afua Donkor.
Roman Fada, now the flagbearer of the GFP, expressed deep appreciation during the event, stating, “I am very grateful, Chairman. It was a difficult decision for me, but you motivated me to take up the challenge, and I won’t disappoint you.”
The GFP’s leadership transition came at a crucial time, reshaping the party’s fortunes ahead of the 2024 general elections. Following Madam Afua Donkor’s passing, the party faced significant uncertainty. However, Roman Fada’s leadership brought renewed vigor, with strategic decisions that proved influential in the electoral outcome.
The party’s performance in the elections, though not dominant with their four Parliamentary Candidates, Observers credit the GFP’s revamped leadership and renewed focus under Roman Fada for its growing brand relevance in Ghana’s political landscape.
Elder Dr. Tobbin, known for his philanthropic and leadership influence, was commended for his role in inspiring young leaders like Roman Fada to rise to the occasion. The presentation of the portrait served as both a token of gratitude and a symbol of the GFP’s commitment to fostering strong leadership for national development.
The Tobinco Group’s Annual Thanksgiving, an event celebrating faith, leadership, and community impact, provided the perfect platform for this significant gesture, further solidifying Elder Dr. Tobbin’s influence beyond the corporate world.
As the GFP looks ahead, Roman Fada’s leadership continues to garner attention, with expectations of steering the party toward greater national relevance in subsequent elections.
