Scuffle in Parliament: NDC Minority sabotaging Govt business-Henry Kokofu

Former Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu has taken a swipe at the Minority Caucus in Parliament, describing them as saboteurs of government business.

Speaking to Ekow Budu Sam on Atinka FM’s Morning Show, AM Drive, the former lawmaker expressed his displeasure with the way the NDC Members of Parliament have used their numbers to impede government policies.

His comments come a day after Speaker of Parliament, Right Hon. Alban Kingsford Bagbin adjourned the House indefinitely over arguments of who becomes Majority or Minority.

The former Exexutive Director of Environmental Protection Agency believes that the Majority which reserves the right to call the shots and lead the charge in Parliament is being controlled and hindered by the Minority. He argued that this development is a clear indication of what he decriribes as ‘party interest over national interest’.

On whether or not Parliament is entirely independent, he opined that much as he agrees with the principle of Separation of Powers,we shouldn’t also be oblivious of Checks and Balances.

“The NDC is only using its numbers to make the country ungovernable just so the government becomes unpopular. But in all this, who suffers? It’s the ordinary Ghanaian. They have forgotten that the Ghanaians whose mandate they’re seeking, stand to bear the brunts of all their unpatriotic behaviors in Parliament “,he opined.
