Video: Daylight robbery at Avenor junction; victim loses three fingers

A middle-aged woman of Chinese origin was nearly killed when she was attacked by two armed robbers on a motorbike at Avenor Junction on Friday afternoon.

The victim, who was driving from Alajo to Kwame Nkrumah Circle, was said to have lost three fingers in the attack.

The robbers allegedly bolted with a huge amount of cash after deflating the victim’s car tyres and shooting her fingers.

The robbers followed the victim from the Standard Chartered branch at West Hills Mall, where she had gone to deposit money, according to a reliable source.

“The robbers, thinking the woman had gone to withdraw money from the bank, pursued her until she got to Avenor Junction and fired at her car, causing the tyres to deflate while one of the bullets hit her left fingers. They snatched a bag from the car and sped off,” the source told Atinkaonline.com.

According to our source, the victim was treated at the Entrance University Hospital located at Kokomlemle-Asantewaa Junction before being transferred to the 37 Military Hospital for further care.

Statement by Police

Meanwhile, the police in a statement,  said they are pursuing a gang of armed robbers who attacked and shot a woman at Caprice (Avenor junction) in Accra today, 9th December 2022.

Special intelligence and operations teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the suspects involved; we will surely get them arrested to face justice.

The victim is in stable condition and receiving medical attention.
