World Vision Ghana has organized a media dialogue on Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action under the theme ‘The Church and Creation Care: Inspiring Environmental Responsibility in Ghana.’
The dialogue aimed to foster media collaboration, raise awareness about Creation Care, and develop innovative public engagement strategies to address environmental challenges in Ghana through information and education.
Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Yaw Blasu, Researcher at Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission and Culture, spoke at the media dialogue on Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action on Tuesday, December 17, on the theme: ‘The Church Role in Creation Care.’
He emphasized that the earth is the only place where humans can have an impact and receive impact in return. He explained that the earth fulfills its purpose through five key relationships:
- Religious: The relationship between humans and God.
- Social: Interactions between humans.
- Psychological: The relationship between humans and themselves.
- Ecological: The connection between humans and the natural world, including living and non-living elements.
- Environmental: The interplay between living creatures and non-living elements.
Rev. Dr. Blasu concluded that natural and cultural laws play a crucial role in helping the earth achieve its purpose.
George Matey Okorley, Faith and Development Coordinator for World Vision Ghana, added that Creation Care encompasses “practices and actions that preserve the integrity of the earth, mirroring the way God, the Creator, cares for it.”
He stressed that this holistic approach recognizes the intricate relationships between human well-being, environmental sustainability, and spiritual growth. The media dialogue provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss environmental sustainability and climate action, inspiring collective action to protect the planet.
