10 senior management staff of the Ghana Textiles Printing Company (GTP) also known as Tex Styles Ghana Limited were denied entry into the company’s premises Monday on grounds that, their appointment had been revoked.
The affected persons who were made up of 3 Directors and seven (7) management members were issued their dismissal letters by the company’s Managing Director without further explanation. Their dismissal comes barely two weeks after some workers there staged a demonstration against the MD over poor working conditions.
The dismissal of the 10 senior management members came as a surprise to many workers since there was no prior communication from the Managing Director or any top official to that effect.
Their dismissal comes at the backdrop of a recent demonstration against the company’s MD Fatoumata Doro, who they accused of running down the company
Portions of the dismissal letters that were personally handed over to the senior management and directors of the company by MD Fatoumata Doro read that, all 2 months’ salary in lieu of notice will be paid while that of accrued leave would also be paid in line with Labour law.

Joseph Anyimah Amosah, a production manager at GTP who was affected by the company’s action, could not fathom why the MD will unlawfully sack him after 35 years of dedicated service to the company. He said even though he is ready to seek legal address, he will wait for the final verdict from the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union of which he’s a member.
Chairman of the Senior Staff Union at the GTP, Rev Charles Quaynoo, who described the action taken by their Nigerien MD as laughable, said he trusts both the Labour Commission and the ICU will act in the interest of the affected workers, since any legal action taken by those workers, will cause doom for the company
Meanwhile, a meeting between the ICU, Labour Commission, and management of the GTP ended inconclusively. According to sources, both the MD and some management members told the Labour parties that, the action taken against the affected workers was not in response to last week’s demonstration but that of an internal disciplinary issue.
