Despite the release of nine protestors, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the accused persons in the Democracy Hub protest case, has been denied bail by the Accra High Court.

According to the presiding judge, he is not convinced that the accused person will not commit another offence if granted bail.

Barker-Vormawor is one of 53 people charged with multiple counts of conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on public officer, and defacement of public property.

He is the only accused person charged with an extra count of stealing at the Circuit Court.

He was earlier denied bail by the Circuit Court when he made his first appearance on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

His lawyers, led by Justice Srem-Sai filed the application for bail at the High Court but that was denied by the High Court on Tuesday morning (Oct 7).
