Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Bernard Lav, Rev. Cyril Crabbe who is a campaigner against road accidents observed that there was a speeding cause in many of the accidents recorded.

He said even with most of the police reports, it is stated that the driver was speeding and therefore he lost control.

Rev. Cyril Crabbe recalled an accident that occurred on the Eastern Corridor road that claimed about 30 lives, saying the roads were bad and the drivers were also speeding.

“If everyone will have patience on the road, I believe the accidents will reduce or we may not get accidents that will claim many lives,” he said.

He noted that about 15,000 persons are injured every year through road accidents.

After an accident, Rev. Cyril Crabbe mentioned that one could pay at least GHS4,000 for minor surgeries GHS8,000, for a normal surgery and GHS12,000 and above for major surgeries. This, he said was aside the labs, X-rays, physio amongst others.

Meanwhile, he noted that the National Health Insurance Scheme does not cover all these costs.

Due to this, he started the “I Support Accident Victim” initiative to raise funds to support accident victims to pay their hospital bills.

He encouraged all Ghanaians to support the “I Support  Accident Victims” financially so that they can provide comfort to victims.
