For some time now, the galamsay issue has become a deadly canker, destroying the country’s land and ecosystem.
The galamsay has depleted the country’s beautiful ecosystem, destroying many animals’ homes in both the waters and the soil.
Henry Opoku Ware, aka Owass, proposed decentralization of the Minerals Commission into communities.
He added that this would bring the institution closer to the communities, preventing illegal miners from operating without a license.
He made this comment during Nana Owoahene Acheampong’s Simpieso show on Atinka FM.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has set up a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee to engage stakeholders to assess the government’s efforts to deal with illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey.
The five-member committee is under the leadership of
