Former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Akamba, has expressed his desire for constitutional changes that would allow President John Dramani Mahama to contest for an additional term in office.
According to Mr. Akamba, Ghana stands to benefit from the experience and leadership of President Mahama in driving national development and improving livelihoods.
He made the remarks during an inspection of the proposed site for a 24-hour market project at Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District.
Mr. Akamba noted that the project, once completed, is expected to become one of the most modern markets in the constituency. He also cautioned the contractor to avoid unnecessary delays, warning that any undue setbacks could lead to termination of the contract.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Margaret Naana Ackom, highlighted the project’s potential to create employment opportunities for young people in the area.
She explained that local youth would be engaged during the construction phase, with more job opportunities expected after completion due to increased commercial activity.
In addition, the Central Regional Member of the Council of State, Habib Hakeem, commended President Mahama for fulfilling a key campaign promise to the people of Gomoa East and the Central Region.
