NLA Good Causes Foundation Touched Over One Million Lives – Sammy Awuku

NLA Good Causes Foundation

The former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Samuel Awuku, has made a sweeping claim that the Good Causes Foundation positively impacted the lives of over one million Ghanaians during his tenure, a figure he uses to underscore the scale of its work.

This assertion was central to his rebuttal against a report alleging misuse of funds. Awuku stated that the Foundation’s work, funded by the Caritas Lottery Platform, brought about “transformative changes in many communities and institutions.”

He also defended the inclusion of NLA staff as beneficiaries, revealing that approximately 150 staff members received educational and medical support.

“In prioritizing the welfare of Staff, most of them received educational and medical support to cushion them and prevent them from the burden of taking loans with high interest and for this, I make no apology,” – he declared.

The one-million-lives figure, coupled with the support for staff, is presented as the ultimate metric of the Foundation’s widespread success and a justification of its operational choices.
