“Refer complaints to National office”- NPP MP aspirants advised

Director of Research and Elections for the ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako, has asked prospective parliamentary aspirants to direct complaints to the appropriate quarters.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) opened nominations for its upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries ahead of the 2020 general elections.
The primaries is scheduled for April 25, 2020.
Persons who vying for the presidential position are required to pay GH¢200,000 as filing fees, and a non-refundable application fee of GH¢20,000 for nomination forms.
“A Presidential Vetting Committee (PVC) shall be established to examine and vet the candidature of every aspirant for the presidential nomination of the party to ensure that such person qualifies to contest for the office of the President of the Republic,” a statement from the party said.
Picking of the NPP nomination form is, however, becoming a bone of contention as some aspirants have accused their party executives of preventing prospective aspirants from picking nomination forms.
But speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Director of Research and Elections ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako, explained that prospective candidates vying for positions in the party have been asked to direct complaints to the Regional and National offices of the party.
He noted that the Party also constituted a constituency party election committee in the various constituencies to sell the nomination forms to prospective candidates who are in good standing.
“ I do not know why people you say they have been denied access to the nomination forms have resorted to complaining to inappropriate quarters, knowing very well the appropriate quarters to channel complaints to. Going on radio to complain will not make you a candidate. Nobody is preventing anyone from picking the forms.” he added.
Meanwhile, Personal Assistant to Lawyer Kwasi Amofa Agyemang, a prospective Parliamentary aspirant in the Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti Region says his candidate was deliberately prevented from picking nomination forms.
According to him, the delay by the Bekwai party chairman is just a ploy to allow only Joseph Osei Owusu, the incumbent MP, to contest the primaries and the 2020 general elections subsequently.
