Ghana Police says it is investigating the alleged deliberate burning of two buses belonging to the State Transport Company in their Ho yard.
About 2am on Tuesday 28th September2020, four armed men stormed Ho STC yard demanding the keys to all the vehicles parked.
The armed men allegedly set two of the mini buses ablaze when the drivers did not produce the keys.
The arrival of Police and Fire Service personnel saved the situation.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the Police shows that there were 11 vehicles parked at the time of the incident. 2 buses were completely burnt and another slightly burnt.
A flag of the group which calls itself “Western Togoland” was found at the scene.
The Police has urged the public to remain calm, while volunteering information to Police and Security Services.
The group on Friday 25th September 2020 blocked major entry points into Volta Region as part of measures to push the government to give them their sovereignty.
The group particularly blocked roads in Sogakope and Mepe, disrupting the activities of residents and motorists who ply that route.
The group also attacked a police station and made away with weapons from their armoury.
The police has, however, retrieved weapons and other items seized or stolen by the group.
