Bawumia "pained and stunned" by death of Mfantseman MP

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed condolence to the family of Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman constituency Ekow Kwansa Hayford after his demise.

The MP was killed in a robbery attack at Nkusukum on the Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze on Friday dawn after embarking on a campaign tour and was returning home.

In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia wrote,”I am pained and stunned by news of the untimely death of Hon. Ekow Kwansa Hayford, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman constituency.”

He expressed hope that the perpetrators of such a heinous crime are brought to book.

“My utmost condolences to his family, constituents and well-wishers. May the gentle soul of Kwansa rest in peace,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police have placed a GHC20,000 bounty on the perpetrators of the act.

“A reward of twenty thousand Ghana Cedis (20,000.00) has also been offered to any person who gives credible information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, while the public is being urged to remain calm” the IGP said in a statement.
