NPP condemns Mahama over vigilante comments

The New Patriotic Party has condemned the NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for alluding that the Akufo-Addo government is resourcing pro-vigilante groups.

John Mahama during his Greater Accra tour last week alleged that the government is interested in equipping pro-NPP vigilante groups to the detriment of state security agencies.

Responding to these allegations at a press conference in Accra Monday, Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence Committee, Seth Acheampong said such comments are false and undermine the work of the security agencies.

He was of the belief that about 70 percent of Ghanaians support the work of the NPP-Government and therefore the opposition NDC is scared to lose the election and has therefore resorted to rejection of supposed flawed elections.

He urged Ghanaians not to be scared of election violence, saying that this election will be more peaceful than the others, urging Ghanaians to come out to vote in their numbers come December 7.

Meanwhile, he said the government has resourced the security agencies with enough equipment to ensure the safety of the people before, during and after the election.
