Stop the press conferences-Pentecostal and Charismatic Council to NPP, NDC

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) against organising series of press conference before the Electoral Commission comes out to declare the results of the 2020 election.

Ever since the counting started on Monday, December 7, 2020, both the NDC and the NPP have organised series of press conferences claiming victory .

Even though the EC is yet to declare the results, the NDC claims it has won majority in Parliament whiles the NPP has also refused to accept that.

In a press statement, the Council said,”To the two main political parties, NPP and NDC, we call on their leadership to stop forthwith the too many press conferences, the accusations and counter accusations and allow the Electoral Commission the space and peace of mind to deliver to Ghanaians a credible, transparent and acceptable results.”

The Council also urged the media to conduct themselves in a manner that would not jeopardise the security of the state.

“We also call on the Media to be reminded of their fourth state of the realm status and conduct themselves in a manner that would not jeopardise the security of the state, especially at this critical moment ahead of the results declaration,” he said.
