Let's uphold Rawlings’ legacy to honour him – Kofi Adams

A former aide to late President Rawlings and Buem Member of Parliament, Kofi Adams, has asked persons who claim they practice the core values of the former President of the Republic of Ghana to uphold his legacy to honour him.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Elourba Gyasi, Kofi Adams noted that although he was aware his former boss had died, it only dawned on him that he is no more when his casket was lowered into the ground on Wednesday January 27th 2021.

He called on persons who claim to practice the core values and principles of the former President of Jerry John Rawlings to work assiduously and ensure that his legacy lives on forever.

 “I knew President Rawlings loved his country and loved his people. It was that love and passion that moved him all the time when he has to act. It’s nothing more, nothing less. It was never for any material gains, ” he stated.

Commenting on the organization of the funeral, Kofi Adams said although the funeral was well organized, the participation of the Anlo traditional Council would have been perfect.

Meanwhile, the Anlo Traditional Council has vowed to hold a separate funeral rite for former President Jerry John Rawlings with or without the remains of the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Former President of the Republic of Ghana and founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, died after battling a short illness.

Jerry John Rawlings died at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 73.

He left behind a wife and four Children.
