The Awutu Senya Municipal Assembly has formed a composite security services task force to enforce the covid-19 safety protocols across the length and breadth of the municipality.
As part of the enforcement, the task force will ensure the compulsory wearing of face maks by everyone in the public, including markets, schools, lorry parks, churches and mosques.
They will also ensure that all commercial drivers who ply routes within the municipality are in masks while they caution passengers to do same.
In a statement, the Assembly said the task force will make persons who are seen in town without masks sweep the streets or pay a fine of GHS10 or do both.
“Every individual or pedestrian who will be seen going about their activities within the municipality without nose masks will be made to pay a spot fine of GHS10 or will be made to undertake street cleaning activities or both,” the Assembly stated.
It also said taxi drivers, okada drivers and pragya drivers who pick any passenger who is not wearing nose mask shall pay a spot fine of GHS 20.
“Priests, pastors or church leaders who are found in ministerial activities with congregation without adequate provisions for safety measures shall pay a spot fine of fifty Ghana Cedis only,” It added.
The assembly also said buses, trotro driers who are seen carrying passengers without masks will also be fine GHS50.
