Police arrest businessman who allegedly sent daughter for money rituals

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 42-Year-old businessman, Mr Evans Oppong who is a resident of Fise, near Amasaman for allegedly taking his 11-year-old daughter to a herbalist at Oyibi Kom on Thursday, June 2, 2022 to perform money rituals for him.

A video of the businessman who tried to allegedly use two of his children for money rituals went viral on social media on Friday, June 3, 2022.

In the video, it was noticed that the man visited the herbalist, known as Nana and offered his daughter to kill her and sacrifice her for money.

But the Herbalist who is a former soldier called the police to arrest the man, saying he does not kill people for money rituals.

According to the Herbalist, when the man visited him, he told him that he returned from abroad and things were not going on well with him so he wanted money through rituals.

When the Herbalist informed the girl her father wanted to use her for money rituals, she looked more than scared, but the Herbalist assured her that she was safe.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service said,”The suspect’s arrest followed information provided by a patriotic citizen to the Police, and we are grateful to him for his selfless service which has saved the life of the child involved.”

It assured the victim was currently in the safe custody of the Police while an effort was being made to reunite her with her mother and the rest of the family.

For the suspect, the Police said he is still in custody, assisting with investigation.
