Agenda 111 not an ambitious project – Dr Nsiah Asare

Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Government Advisor on Health, has disputed claims that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Agenda 111 project is overly ambitious.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the Agenda 111 project on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, pledging to build 111 hospitals across the country.

The Agenda 111 Hospitals Project is expected to create over 60,000 jobs upon completion, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said.

“There is an average number of 120 workers on each construction site, and when completed, an average of 559 persons will be employed in a district hospital, 1,343 in the regional hospital, and 947 in each psychiatric hospital. This means that, 67,635 people will be employed in the Agenda 111 Hospitals Project”, President Akufo-Addo noted.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Nana Yaw Fianko, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Government Advisor on Health said the Agenda 111 project by Akufo-Addo will boost Ghana’s health system.

Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare noted that all the hospitals listed under the project were equally important, noting the fact that some of the health facilities in the district were either overburdened due to the number of people who used them.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare reiterated government’s commitment to bolster Ghana’s health system to enhance both accessibility and quality of healthcare nationwide.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare said with Agenda 111 Health Projects government is focusing on specialized and sub-specialized training for healthcare personnel to better address challenges in regional and district hospitals.

He emphasized the need for continued support to enable the government to deliver high-quality healthcare services to all citizens.
