President John Dramani Mahama has announced that construction works on a modern Trauma and Accident Center for the Ahanta West Municipality in the Western Region will be completed within the next 18 months, as part of his broader agenda to improve access to emergency healthcare across the country.
Speaking during a visit to the project site at Apemanim, President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every region of Ghana benefits from quality and well-equipped health facilities capable of handling emergency and trauma cases.
He said the facility, when completed, will serve as a referral center for accident victims and trauma cases from Ahanta West and neighboring districts such as Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Nzema East, and Sekondi-Takoradi, easing pressure on the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The center will include an emergency ward, surgical theatres, diagnostic units, a blood bank, and staff accommodation. It is expected to create both direct and indirect jobs during and after construction.
