Akwatia

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has completed the vetting of three aspirants seeking to contest the upcoming Akwatia by-election on the party’s ticket.

The vetting was conducted by a committee chaired by the party’s Director of Logistics and Protocol, Mr. Ludwig Hlordze.

The vetted candidates—Bernard Bediako Baidoo, Erasmus Koney Ali, and Henry Yiadom Boakye—will compete in the party’s primary scheduled for Monday, ahead of the by-election set for September 2, 2025.

One of them will be elected to face the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.

Speaking to the media after the vetting, Mr. Hlordze called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and regional security heads to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process in the Akwatia Constituency.

Two of the aspirants, Mr. Ali and Mr. Baidoo, also shared their optimism about their chances in the upcoming primaries, expressing confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.

The by-election follows a vacancy created in the Akwatia Constituency, necessitating the selection of a new parliamentary candidate.
