A Political Activist, Yaw Asani Tano has urged voters at the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region to look beyond sympathy votes, focus on development-driven and vote wisely.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has set Tuesday, September 2, 2025, as the date for the Akwatia constituency parliamentary by-election following the death of the Member of Parliament for the area, Ernest Kumi.

In a statement issued Wednesday, July 30, the Commission said the vacancy created by Mr Kumi’s passing requires, under Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, that a by-election be conducted within 60 days.

Nomination forms will be available for download on the Commission’s website from July 30 to August 13.
Completed forms must be submitted at the Demkyembour District Office of the EC between Monday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 13.

Speaking on Atinka Fm’s Morning show with host Ekow Budu Sam, Yaw Asani Tano emphasized that development is not driven by emotional appeals or sympathy, but rather by visionary leadership and effective governance.

He charged the voters to prioritize development-driven leadership over sympathy votes calling on them to vote for the NDC candite who will be able to lobby for development since his party is in power.
