Alan’s resignation won’t have any huge effect on NPP- Political Analyst

consequences

A Political Commentator, Prof. Osei Bobbie Boahen has opined that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not have any huge impact on the party .

He said Alan’s exit will only have huge effect on the party if members do not take the matter seriously and work hard to achieve its goal.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect and made it known his bid to contest as an independent candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Announcing his exit, Alan complained about supposed divisiveness in the NPP and alleged hostile attacks on himself and his supporters for more than a decade now.

He also claimed the party has been “hijacked by a selected group of Party leaders and elders, and government appointees behind the curtain power brokers”.

He outdored his new Movement, ‘Movement for Change’ with a Monarch Butterfly as his brand logo.

After his resignation, a number of people from the NPP have expressed bitterness over Alan’s exit while some have also blamed the leadership of the party over its current state.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwah, Prof. Osei Bobbie Boahen said Alan’s resignation should rather serve as a wake-up call to the NPP.

“Looking at what has happened before, what has happened in the NDC and in the NPP in the past, I do not think it will have any huge effect on the NPP.

He continued,”If it will have any effect, then it depends on the party in the sense that at some point when God is correcting you, or if you are a student and you get a good teacher to correct you, it is better. In a way, this will rather awaken the party for its members to wake up and stand on their feet. That is the positive aspect of it. But if the members do not take this seriously and think this will cause nothing, then it will have consequences on the party.”
