Amandzeba pledges support for politicians upholding Nkrumah’s ideology

Ghanaian highlife legend Amandzeba Nat Brew has declared his support for any political leader who embodies the principles and vision of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking with Selikem Acolatse-Apaloo on Bullet TV’s Morning Target on Friday, Amandzeba emphasized that his loyalty lies not with political parties or personalities but with philosophies that align with Nkrumah’s legacy of self-reliance and African unity.

“I’m a staunch Nkrumahist,” he affirmed. “Any leader who reflects even a fraction of Nkrumah’s ideals will have my backing. He left us a roadmap for progress, yet many have sought to destroy his image and derail the development he envisioned for Ghana.”

The artist highlighted the enduring relevance of Nkrumah’s contributions, from industrialization to pan-Africanism. He lamented how external forces and local leaders have neglected or undermined these ideals. “Even decades after his passing, his vision continues to benefit us, yet some leaders fail to uphold it. Institutions should honor his legacy by promoting self-reliance and sustainable development,” Amandzeba stated.

Amandzeba criticized Ghana’s current political landscape, accusing leaders of prioritizing personal gain over national development. “True politicians work for the people, not for themselves,” he said, adding that most political campaigns focus on empty promises rather than actionable plans.

He called for leadership grounded in service and accountability, urging politicians to address regional disparities, particularly in the north. “Provide basic amenities like schools, clinics, and water in the north, and people won’t need to migrate south. Development must be equitable,” he insisted.

The  “Wogbe Jeke” hitmaker encouraged Ghanaians to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections, voting for leaders who reflect Nkrumah’s vision. “Don’t let billboards and T-shirts sway you. If you’re satisfied with the status quo, maintain it. If not, vote for real change,” he advised.

While refraining from directly endorsing any party, Amandzeba reiterated his commitment to being a “native messenger,” using his platform to inspire and inform. He assured fans of more unconventional and impactful projects while urging citizens to hold leaders accountable.
