A/R Minister Denies First Lady’s Involvement in School Feeding Contract Controversy

A/R Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has distanced First Lady Mrs. Lordina Mahama from recent allegations surrounding the controversial awarding of school feeding contracts, urging calm among disgruntled party members and warning against the unauthorized use of her name.

Addressing the media after a meeting with NDC constituency chairpersons and women organizers, including the regional women’s organizer, Dr. Amoakohene responded to concerns that certain individuals—referred to as “strangers”—were falsely claiming to have secured school feeding contracts across districts, allegedly using the First Lady’s name to lend credibility to their claims.

The situation has sparked discontent among some NDC women organizers who feel overlooked despite their longstanding contributions to the party.

In an interview with Atinka News’ Ashanti regional correspondent, Obofo Michael, Dr. Amoakohene explained that delays in the school feeding program are partly due to the fact that many Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs)—key players in the program’s implementation—have yet to be officially appointed.

Speaking on the allegations linking the First Lady to the contract saga, the Regional Minister was emphatic in his defense of Mrs. Mahama.

He went on to caution party members about individuals who may exploit the First Lady’s name for personal gain.

In a show of respect and humility, Dr. Amoakohene publicly apologized to the First Lady.

He further urged party faithful and the public to exercise caution, act with integrity, and refrain from using the names of innocent leaders for personal benefit.
