GFA charges Samuel Boadu for alleged misconduct after FA Cup defeat to Kotoko

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally charged Samuel Boadu, the head coach of Berekum Chelsea, with misconduct after his team’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 13, 2025, the GFA disclosed that the former manager of Hearts of Oak had broken both Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019 and Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.

His alleged actions towards match officials following the final whistle are the subject of the charges.

“It is alleged that after the match, Coach Boadu approached the referees in an aggressive, angry, and fierce manner,” the statement read.

“Using inappropriate gestures which constitute misconduct that brings the game into disrepute,”

According to reports, the incident happened right after the game as tensions erupted over disagreements over certain refereeing calls.

“His conduct is considered contrary to the principles of sportsmanship, respect for match officials, and the integrity of the game,”

“Such behaviour undermines the efforts to promote discipline and decorum in Ghana football.”The GFA added

Boadu has until Thursday, May 15, 2025, to address the accusations. Boadu might be subject to fines, touchline bans, or even suspension from all football-related activities if convicted.
