Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, born Bright Okpocha, has announced the end of his 12-year marriage with his wife, Elsie Okpocha.
The confirmation comes weeks after the comedian failed to celebrate their annual wedding anniversary in November, something he does regularly.
This development sparked divorce rumors on social media.
Confirming the divorce in a Facebook post, Basketmouth revealed that, as much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, the development is an unavoidable situation.

He assured the general public that as they move forward separately, they will continue to work together to give their beautiful children all the care, love, guidance, and support they need.
The comedian has since asked the general public to respect the privacy of his family as they navigate through these tough times.
“As much as it pains me to bring my personal life into the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.”
“After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.”
“As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance, and support they need.
