Book on how to live a good Christian life launched

A book that seeks to provide Christians with the knowledge of the true kingdom of God and how they should live their lives to portray a good Christian life has been launched in Accra.

The book, "Kingdom of God: The Ultimate Purpose" is a 213 page book  authored by Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku, a Board Member of the National Peace Council.

He is also the Chairman of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Risk Management, a United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), a body that operates under the auspices of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

According to the author, the subject of the kingdom of God has been a forgotten subject in the church, having been replaced with denominationalism, local church empire-building schemes and church leader's personal aggrandizement.

As has been argued severally in the book, the author stated that church our lord Jesus Christ built (according to Matthew 16; 18) is not supposed to be an end in herself, but a means to an end.
Rev. Darku also reiterated that the church's primary business is to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

"The Kingdom of God: the Ultimate Purpose is an attempt to draw the attention of Christians to the need for us to be kingdom minded by being informed of what appears to be God's ultimate objective after the fall of humankind in sin," he said.

Rev. Darku therefore encouraged all Ghanaians, especially pastors to purchase the book, read it and get the knowledge about how the church is and what the church stands for, also who a Christian is and how a Christian ought to conduct his or her life to the glorification of God.

Aside the book launch held at the Baptist International Worship Centre (BIWC), there was a forum that brought together stakeholders in the Christian fraternity to deliberate on issues that are bothering Christianity in Ghana, as well as ways to address the issues raised.

For his part, the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev. Emmanuel Barrigah recommended that false prophets and pastors who exploit church members who seem
to be ignorant are brought to book by law enforcement agencies.
