Member of Parliament for Abura Kwamankese constituency in the Central Region, Elvis Morris Donkor, has accused the Minority in Parliament for causing mayhem during parliamentary sitting on Monday 20th December 2021.

This statement by the New Patriotic Parliament (NPP)  MP comes after Members of Parliament engaged in another physical confrontation on Monday night during a debate on the controversial e- Levy.

The incident occurred just when the MPs were about to cast their vote on the matter.

Speaker Alban Bagbin was absent from the house when the incident occurred .

A video which had gone viral on social media captured MPs punching their colleagues at will as the debate got out of hand.

The chaos occurred when the Finance Committee of Parliament had given the green light for the 1.75% E-Levy to be discussed on the floor of the House following a majority decision at the Committee level.

This is the second time a similar incident has happed in Parliament.

According to him, the majority only prevented the minority from attacking some members of Parliament.

“ The majority did not engage in any brawl in Parliament. From all indications the minority had already planned to cause mayhem like they always do. We the majority only defended and prevented further casualty,” Elvis Morris Donkor told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
