Condition of Service : CLOGSAG Members Embark on Indefinite Nationwide Strike

CLOGSAG

Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) have begun an indefinite nationwide strike in protest against what the association describes as persistent delays in the implementation of their agreed conditions of service.

A visit to some ministries and government offices revealed mixed adherence to the directive by the national leadership of CLOGSAG for members to stay away from work.

At the Ghana Passport Office, all departments were operating and staff were seen carrying out their usual duties. However, operations at the Births and Deaths Registry were significantly affected by the strike, leaving many applicants stranded as services were disrupted.

The leadership of CLOGSAG maintains that the decision to embark on the strike follows several unsuccessful attempts to engage the government on the matter.

The development comes despite an order from the National Labour Commission (NLC) directing the association to suspend the planned strike and return to the negotiation table.

However, CLOGSAG has instructed its members nationwide to disregard the directive and proceed with the industrial action, insisting that the government has not adequately addressed their concerns.
