Coronavirus: Kwahu Traditional Council calls off Easter festivities

 
The Kwahu Traditional Council has officially called off this year’s annual Kwahu Easter and all activities associated with it.
This development is in line with the President’s directive on the coronavirus pandemic  in Ghana
Health authorities Sunday afternoon announced that six cases of the disease have been recorded in the country.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Sunday evening announced that all public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, are to be suspended for the next four (4) weeks.
In view of the directive by the President, Kwahu Traditional Council has released a statement calling off the 2020 Kwahu Easter festivities.
The statement also directed the indefinite suspension of one week celebrations, forty days observations and funerals in Kwahu.
“Appointments and visit to the various palaces in Kwahu should be suspended, unless they are extremely necessary. All public engagements by Nananom within the Kwahu Traditional Council are cancelled. Akwasidae should be celebrated with minimal contacts and restricted to indoor traditional ceremonies. As already advised handshaking, hugging and other forms of bodily contacts must be discouraged”, it said.
Markets and various trading centers in Kwahu have been advised to adhere to strictest hygiene and minimize contacts with people.
All residents in Kwahu including chiefs have also been advised to travel only when necessary.
