The active cases of COVID-19 in Ghana have dropped from over 507 to 398, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated.
According to him, 46,664 persons have fully recovered, representing 98.5 percent of the persons that tested positive for the virus.
He also made it known that 310 deaths have been recorded after 13 new deaths were recorded.
President Akufo-Addo said 510,074 have been tested so far for the virus in the country.
He noted that Ghana has been spared of all restrictions unlike the other countries, saying that Ghana might be doing something better.
He attributed it to government’s activeness in dealing with the virus and the people’s response to the success the country has chalked in the fight against the virus.
He noted again that the daily infection rates are no longer in 100’s, adding that presently, the daily infections are in 10s.
Inspite of our success, he urged the public to continue to observe the protocols because of the nature of the virus, in order to fight it outright.
After opening the Kotoka International Airport,
(KIA) on 1st September, 2020,he said 30,561 persons have been tested, out of which 92 tested positive, adding that they were all asymptomatic and could spread the virus if they were not tested.
He said Ghana has now dedicated facilities to deal with the disease including more testing centres.
Prsident Akufo-Addo also said currently, Ghana has no patients at isolation centres, thanking all who have supported in the fight of COVID-19.
He said Football will return in two weeks.
He again stated that according to Bank of Ghana, the Ghanaian economy is recovering faster than anticipated.
He urged all to continue to comply with the protocols that have become part of our daily routines.
He also promised to ensure that Ghana wins the fight against the virus.
